ADMINISTRATION

  • Robert Collins Executive Director

    Rob was born in the USA where he completed his undergraduate degree. After completing a postgraduate degree in England he settled in Britain in 1970. Following a decade at the University of Bath teaching Art History and working closely with study abroad students, he and a teaching colleague formed interstudy in 1980. Rob lives in Bath, but spends much of his time with interstudy colleagues in the USA and South Africa.

NORTH AMERICAN OFFICE


  • Jane Dickson Director of Institutional Relations and Marketing

    Jane holds a B.A. in Russian Area Studies from Simmons College and spent her junior year at Trinity College Dublin. While completing her M.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania she studied for a year in Moscow. Over the past twenty-five years Jane's work in the field of international education has taken her to Africa, Europe, Latin America, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.  Her particular areas of expertise include program development, risk management, staff training, and institutional outreach.  Most recently, Jane joined the ranks of study abroad parents when her eldest son spent his junior year abroad in Argentina and Spain.  Jane enjoys novels with a cross-cultural element, walking her dog on the beach, skiing and snorkeling.

  • Allison Glasmann Director of Student Services

    Allison holds a B.A. in English and French from Bowdoin College and completed her Master's degree in Intercultural Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Allison comes to interstudy with a lot of international experience. After getting a feel for living abroad during her junior year in Paris, Allison went on to join the Peace Corps in West Africa and later directed a study abroad program for high school students in Nice, France. Most recently, she worked on a research project in Malawi, Southeast Africa with Save the Children. Allison enjoys traveling, doing yoga, hiking, reading good novels, watching foreign films, and trying new foods from around the world.

  • Katie Smith Assistant Director, US Institutional Relations

    Originally from Warwick, Rhode Island, Katie is primarily responsible for student recruitment, outreach and promotion of interstudy Programs. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.S. in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island. Katie also has a love of travel, films, photography and learning.

  • Emily Whalen Enrollment Manager

    Originally from Cleveland, Emily holds a B.A. in English Literature from Kenyon College. Emily brings with her a recent study abroad experience as an interstudy student in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Emily has a myriad of roles at interstudy assisting students (and parents) through the pre-departure process and also having the coolest shoes in the office. Emily enjoys music blogs, dance parties and urban cycling through the mean streets of Boston.

    • Erin Koontz Communications Manager

      Erin holds a B.A. in French and Education from Muhlenberg College and is currently completing her Master's degree in International Education through Drexel University's online campus. Erin's professional focus has always been on learning through travel. As a tour consultant with an educational travel company, she enjoyed working closely with high school teachers designing their own itineraries to destinations all over the world. During her junior year abroad, Erin lived in Aix-en-Provence, France. It was through this experience that her love for international travel grew into a full fledged passion. Today, Erin has continued to travel whenever the chance arrives. She's currently fascinated by South America. Erin loves biking, going to the beach, and perfecting her eggplant parmesan recipe.

    • Krista Moore Accounts Manager

      A Boston native, Krista holds a B.A. in English from Merrimack College. She accommodates her numerical interests by tending to the financial matters at interstudy. Krista enjoys road trips, the Muppets, baking, and all things nautical.

    • Katherine Moss Special Projects

      Kate helps with the special projects within marketing and external relations. Kate holds an M.A. in Integrated Marketing Communication from Emerson College and a B.A. in Spanish from DePaul University. She brings 8 years of international education and marketing experience to interstudy working most recently for the University of Minnesota's Learning Abroad Center. Outside of work, Kate enjoys talking about social media, running, and trying new restaurants. 



    • Kaitlin Zack Student Services Intern

      Originally from northern New Jersey, Kaitlin is a senior at Tufts University where she is studying communications and religious studies. After returning from her own study abroad adventure with interstudy at the University of Cape Town, Kaitlin looks forward to sharing her knowledge and love of travel with other students preparing to go overseas. In the future she hopes to have a job that will allow her to continue to travel and explore other countries and cultures. However, she also enjoys exploring her current city of Boston and the surrounding New England area through skiing, hiking, and bicycling.  


EUROPEAN OFFICE

  • Nick Humpston Director of Finance

    Nick was born in Buckingamshire, near London, and completed professional finance and accounting studies at the University of Westminster in Central London. He joined interstudy in 1986 and is responsible for its financial systems and information technology. An avid tennis player and guitar enthusiast, Nick is married to Sally, has a son and daughter and lives in a village south of Bath, England.

    • Coleman Dennehy Resident Director, Britain & Ireland

      Coleman lives in Dublin and is the primary contact for students in Ireland & Britain. He has been working in the field of international education since 2001. Coleman holds a research Masters from University College Dublin and is currently finishing a Ph.D. in Irish constitutional and legal history. He teaches medieval & early modern history at National University of Ireland, Maynooth. He has recently published a collection of papers on Restoration Ireland. He has has also published in several international legal and parliamentary history journals such as 'Parliamentary History', 'Czasopismo Prawno-Historyczne' and 'Parlements, États & Représentation'.

AFRICAN OFFICE

  • Ouma Mpela Resident Director, South Africa & Botswana

    Ouma was born in a small town called Litchenburg in the North Province of South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Potchefstroom, and in 1998 she began her postgraduate studies in Human Resources Management at the University of Cape Town. In 2000 Ouma joined the staff of the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) at the University of Cape Town. Ouma is member of NAFSA in the US, as well as the International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA). Ouma is married and enjoys spending her free time with her two children.

  • Nj Sithole Assistant Resident Director South Africa & Botswana

    Nj was born in New York City. His parents returned to their homeland The Republic of South Africa in 1995, with Nj and his little brother in tow. Upon completing his high school education, Nj enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and graduated with his a BA in social science. He completed his honours degree in Cultural Communication and Media Studies as well as in Drama. Throughout Nj's university career he has been employed by UKZN's international office and now works exclusively with interstudy.

  • Chris Kotze Program Administrator

    Chris was born and raised in Cape Town. In 2002, he left South Africa for the United States to attend University thanks to a swimming scholarship. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Business from Texas Christian University. After graduating, he worked for a large student travel agency in Dallas where he enjoyed working closely with students and Universities in the study abroad arena. Having been fortunate enough to travel around much of the US and the globe, he believes Cape Town to be the most beautiful and vibrant city on earth and is passionate about introducing new people to his hometown and to South Africa.

  • Sebe

    Sebe Mtshali Administrative Coordinator

    Sebe was born and raised in KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Cape Town, majoring in Environmental Science and Oceanography. Sebe has been involved with student matters during most of her university career, working closely with the Orientation Office at UCT. She enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and doing outdoor activities.

  • Anita van Soelen Program Coordinator KwaZulu-Natal

    Anita has been working with the interstudy team since the early days of developing the program at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is based on the Howard College (Durban) campus and has joint duties with interstudy and the University. For the past twenty-five years, Anita has been working for the University Head Applications and Information Office, along with being the interstudy coordinator for the campus. Anita will be available to interstudy students on a daily basis on the Durban campus.



  • Sandra Naidoo Program Coordinator Pietermartizburg

    Sandra has been associated with international students since 1982 in the Faculty of Agriculture. She has been involved with interstudy since 1994 and is based on the Pietermaritzburg Campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, situated near the Midlands Meander and the Drakensberg. Presently she heads the Examinations, Graduation, and Timetabling office and is the interstudy program advisor on this campus.



  • Sarah Lowe Program Coordinator Rhodes University

    Sarah grew up on the South Coast of Natal and after completing her Matric in 2003 she attended Rhodes University. She obtained her BA Degree in 2006 majoring in history and art history and later completed her BA Honours (art history) in 2007. In 2008, she started working at the Rhodes International Office and fell in love with the dynamics of internationalization. She looks forward to the intake of new and exciting international students each semester. Even though Grahamstown is small, she finds that the world is drawn to it and this is why she is attracted to both the place and the profession of international education. Sarah is the interstudy student coordinator on the Rhodes campus and is always available to students.
