      A significant advantage of Limerick University is that you may select and combine courses from all four Faculties of the university, thereby meeting your own personal major, minor, or general elective course requirements more easily. The Faculties are: Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Faculty of Education and Health Sciences; Faculty of Science and Engineering; and the Kemmy School of Business. UL is very popular with students of Humanities and Social Sciences; it is also an ideal destination for students of Engineering, Science, Information Technology, and Business.


    • Preferred application deadlines are: October 15th for Spring semester and April 15th for Fall semester. Call for availability after these dates.
    • At the time of application a student should normally have attained a cumulative grade point average of 2.9 on a 4.0 scale.  Students should hold Sophomore, Junior or Senior class standing at the time of study.
    • Course requests are reviewed in advance of arrival; final registration takes place on arrival.
    • Students can take courses across multiple departments.
    • Students requesting Equine Science or Music courses should provide a current summary of previous experience and a recent recording/video of their performance.
    • The exam period for the Fall semester is in January. Students who can demonstrate that their home college Spring semester starts before the end of the exam period can request alternate assessment. This must be done prior to arrival.
    • Students intending to take business courses during the Fall semester must be able to stay for examinations in January.
    • Standard full-time credit load: 14-16 U.S. semester-hour credits. The total number of courses will vary depending on the credit weighting of each course.

    • Sports and Recreation Program offers weekly, instructed classes in over 60 different activities.
    • Students live in University apartments with local Irish students. Single rooms, self-catered.
