St Andrews, with buildings and city walls dating back to Medieval times, is situated on a sheltered bay commanding splendid views of the Angus coast and hills.       As a visiting student, you may take classes within three of the University's Faculties: Arts, Divinity, or Science. You are encouraged to select classes from subjects in which you are majoring and should note that it may not be possible to take classes in more than one Faculty due to scheduling. Course offerings fall within the typical liberal arts curriculum and range from those of the Classics Department, where the first courses were taught in 1413, to coursework within Scotland’s flagship Sustainable Development Undergraduate Programme.


    • Preferred application deadlines are: October 15th for Spring semester and April 15th for Fall semester. Call for availability after these dates.
    • At the time of application a student should normally have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.  Students should hold Sophomore, Junior or Senior class standing at the time of study.
    • Course pre-approval is not available in advance of arrival; final registration takes place on-arrival.
    • Students can take courses across disciplines provided they have taken the appropriate pre-requisite courses and there are no clashes in course timetables.
    • Fall Only students should be aware that they may be required to sit exams in January.
    • Standard full-time credit load: 14-16 U.S. semester-hour credits. The total number of courses will vary depending on the credit weighting of each course.
