Rhodes University

Univrhodes

The Rhodes campus, long considered one of the most beautiful in the country, is located in the “Festival City” of Grahamstown where small town friendliness is a feature of life. The year-round moderate climate will also get you outdoors for jogging, walking and cycling as well as for a large variety of sports, art classes and recreational activities. Situated in the Eastern Cape, Grahamstown is about 80 miles from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth and is considered the arts capital of the province. Rhodes University is an internationally respected educational center of excellence, modeled after the British tutorial system at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Rhodes provides students with a close-knit community feel both in and out of the classroom. The university offers a small campus, with small class sizes, and top-notch academics. Rhodes owes its unique character among South African universities to a combination of factors, some historical, some geographical, some cultural, and some architectural. As a visiting student at Rhodes, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Student Volunteer Program which matches students with one of the local community-based organizations that run projects in the under resourced parts of Grahamstown.
